3. Wednesday 1st July 2020
Wow! Today is the beginning of July- we are half way through 2020. I can't believe that 2020 is going so quickly. July should have been a really exciting month for us as Megan was going to get married on 27th July- she has had to delay her wedding until July 2021, so we have lots to look forward to next year.
Arthur is five months old today- he has a new blog post but the picture is sideways as I can't get it to turn!
Let's start the day off with some handwriting practice using our spelling words. Don't forget to practise your words on Spelling Shed, there are some tricky words this week.
Read the last part of Chapter 6 before you start working.
We will be reading the final chapter next week- I hope you are all looking forward to what happens at the end of the story. For our BIG WRITE on Friday we are going to predict the end of the story and write our own Chapter 7. Today is planning day, so I would like you to plan your writing. Think about all the things that have happened in the story so far, we need a resolution. Remember the best stories do not end on a doof, doof (a cliff hanger). You need to solve all the dilemmas and challenges of the book. Think about what happens to the main characters as the story ends. I have added a storyboard in the resources so that you can plan your ending. I look forward to reading your versions of the story ending. Have fun planning today.
For maths today I would like you to start by squaring and cubing numbers. To square a number we multiply it by itself (2 squared is 2x2). To cube a number we multiply it by itself three times (2 cubed is 2x2x2). The questions are attached at the bottom of the page.
Our main task today is to calculate angles on a straight line. Don't forget a straight line is 180 degrees. You will use that number alot today. Click here to watch a video to help you to understand what you are doing. The task is attached at the bottom of the page. I have added an extra task at the bottom for you to try too.
