Phonics
On this page there are a series of 30 minute phonics lessons that your child can complete semi-independently at home. Parents- please watch this video for a better understanding of the programme
Ideally, you would do one phonics lesson a day during the week but a minimum of 2-3 would be ok too. There are only 5 weeks left of the academic year (25 days) but 35 lessons. Therefore, it may be beneficial to carry on learning phonics through the summer to complete all 35 lessons. At the bottom of the page is a reward chart I created for the children to colour in as they complete each lesson. When it is full, please send me a picture and I will have a treat ready for them.
Some key vocabulary you may need to know:
- Phoneme- a sound
- Grapheme- a sound written down
- Digraph- two letters that make one sound
- Trigraph- three letters that make one sound
- Clusters- two or three consonants that appear together in a word
Your child may need a pencil and some paper before they start!
