9.Thursday 30th April
Good morning,
I hope everyone is having a good week, the weather hasn't been too great but hopefully you have found some time to go out doors.
Year 1 have made a lovely video to music, which I absolutely love, have a look on their page on the website. I think we should make a year 2 one. I'm just trying to think of a song. On today's blog I will ask the children to write down the song they think we should use for our video. It looks like a lot of hard work went into making it from everyone but what a lovely keepsake for the children to look back on.
Mathematics to day is Week 2- Lesson 3- Unit fractions Click here
English today is to finish off their non-chronological report. If they did a draft yesterday, they can write it up in neat today.
Topic work- Comparing the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. The children need to write down the continents around the oceans, any facts about them and then write down anything that is similar about them. For example, are they both near the same continents? Print out the attachment, comparing oceans, when you fold it in half it will turn into a booklet and they can decorate a front cover. If you don't have a printer just fold an A4 piece of paper in half to make your booklet.
There are few YouTube videos with facts about the oceans to watch.
Atlantic Ocean: Facts about the Atlantic Ocean
Pacific Ocean:Facts about the Pacific Ocean
Underwater sea life in the Pacific Ocean: Click here. This one is really relaxing, just calming music, no words or talking.
I have also attached a copy of the world map again to help with knowing which continents surround the oceans.
Story time today- 'Tiddler' by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler Tiddler read by Mrs Osborn
Please email me work from this week so I can upload it to the website and provide feedback on the writing. I will check Spelling Shed on Monday morning and email a certificate to the child with the top score. Or maybe a child who has surprised me with their effort.
