Good morning Year 6,

I hope that you had a crafty and creative day yesterday. Don’t forget to email or post your pictures on the blog so we can see what you have been doing. I've seen some fabulous drawings already so keep the pictures coming!

Here are today’s tasks:

Maths click here for today’s lesson, You need to click on week 2, then scroll down to complete lesson 3 on using a protractor. You don’t actually need a protractor to answer the questions.

Extra challenge

Orange text book page 110 and 111. Do the questions you can if you don’t have a protractor.
Blue text book page 117 and 118. Do the questions you can if you don’t have a protractor.

English-creative writing begins today. click here to look at the story prompt which has also been emailed to you.

Look closely at the picture before answering the questions. I would suggest that you talk to someone about the picture and explain what you think is happening. On the following pages there are questions to answer, to get you thinking, and a story starter you can use.

Today you will start thinking about plotting your story so jot down any initial ideas you may have and your first thoughts about how the story might continue. We will try to have a draft written by Friday.

Try to remember our work on personification and metaphor and see if you can use them in your work. If you can’t remember what these are, look in your grammar revision booklet.

By next Wednesday, you should have written a short piece of writing which you can them photograph or email. I am looking forward to seeing your work!

Science – see Mrs Ferryman’s resources page and instructions for all the details, which have been emailed to you. This is a brief summary –

For an ongoing Science project that builds on our prior learning about classification, you will focus on the living things in your local area and how things change as the seasons begin to change. New resources for you to use to develop your project will be in the fortnightly emails. I’d like you to observe both plants and animals (including insects) in your local habitat. This could be your garden, a local park, some nearby woodlands, whatever is close and accessible to you.) You will identify how the habitats change as Spring develops (you may have already noticed some new plants, flowers, trees, even birds). You will use your classification skills to sort plants and leaves as these will be some of the most noticeable changes over the coming weeks.

This science work links with our art and geography activities for the next few weeks where we are looking closely at our local environments and the amazing natural changes going on just outside our windows.
