Monday 30th March

Monday 30th March

Good morning Year 6!

It's Monday so that means maths, music, PE and some topic work in the afternoon. I hope you remembered your clocks going forward yesterday. This means it will be lighter for longer in the evenings, which is great if you are able to get outside.

Maths

This week in maths, please focus on finishing the tasks set for you in your pack. I will add extra challenges every day for you to complete, just in case you need more to do! I will focus on a different skills every day and there will be something practical to try too

Extra work if you need it:

  • If you have an orange text book, please complete page 33, which investigates square numbers.
  • f you have a booklet of coloured maths sheets, please focus on completing one page of arithmetic skills.
  • If you have blue text book, please complete page 79 which investigates number patterns (you are allowed to use a calculator).

Music

For music today, I would like you investigate the 2Beats software program on Purple Mash, where you can create simple rhythms. If you have Garage Band on an ipad, have a go at recording some rhythms and melodies of you own. If you are learning an instrument at home, practise today! Finally, ask a grown up to play you one of their favourite songs and ask them why they like it.

PE

Keep active! Use the keep active sheet in your pack to help you. Try to get outside if you can and tell your friends on the blog what you’ve done to stay fit today.

Topic

Have you started the ‘Amazing Addlestone’ challenge yet? This week, please find out as much as you can about Brooklands racetrack. Did you know it was the first purpose built, motor racing track in the whole world? The following websites will help you with your research, check with an adult before accessing them.

Brooklands history

Brooklands history a short film

There is also some amazing archive film if you get an adult to help you do some more research.

Reading

Please remember to record your reading in your reading journal. Ask a grown up to go to the Audible website, there are free books for kids there which you can listen to.   https://stories.audible.com/discovery

You can also access stories free on https://www.audible.co.uk/ but your adult will need to log in to an Amazon account first.

You might find a new author or an new genre of story you've never tried before!

Have a great day and don't forget to check in to the blog on Purple Mash!
