Good morning Year 6!

This is a short update, with more work and instructions coming later so please check back soon. 

I hope you are keeping busy and working your way through some of the tasks in your pack. As it's Wednesday, Mrs Ferryman has some science work for you to do and you will find all the details below. I would like you to make sure that you complete some SPAG work this morning, using some of the revision booklet in your pack. Work through one section and then complete the quiz. Ask someone to test you when you have finished. In maths, please complete an arithmetic sheet and mark it yourself, then choose one of the short papers to complete. Next week I will be setting some new maths tasks with new resources to help you so watch this space! 

Did you complete yesterday's writing task? Can you upload your work to the blog so that I can see it? If you have not yet checked the blog on Purple Mash, please make this one of your priorities today. 

Science 

For Science this week, see how much you can remember about animal characteristics. What makes a mammal, a reptile, an amphibian, a fish, a bird and an insect what they are? Who is warm blooded? Who lays eggs? Who has scales? You can do the animal characteristics sheet to help you remember.

Then, can you work out what makes a platypus so hard to classify? Have a look at the platypus diagram sheet to help you.

Finally, have a go at creating your own animal which has lots of different features (maybe it is a warm blooded animal, who lives in the water, has scales, and gives birth to live babies) and see if someone in your family can try their best to classify it! There is an activity sheet template to help you with this too.

 

Challenge

Today's challenge is the 'A to Z' challenge. As a treasure hunt, can you find an item beginning with each letter of the alphabet around your house? List them at the back of your project book and upload to the blog. Who will be first to complete? Winner will be announced here tomorrow!
