Bringing our Curriculum to life

“A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person.

Our curriculum is designed and delivered with the intention of exciting, engaging, including and challenging all children. Topics are planned carefully with teachers striving to ensure lessons are meaningful to children. 

We use the immersive teaching & learning room 'The Space' together with our school hall to bring many learning opportunities to life. Throughout the year, The Space will be transformed into different environments, historical times or settings through clever use of lighting, moving or still images, sound, scent and temperature control. Examples of this include:

  • The Giant's house above the clouds (Reception, Jack & the Beanstalk)
  • The inside of an aeroplane for a flight to Barcelona (KS1)
  • Roman Amphitheatre (Year 3)
  • Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory (Year 4)
  • Victorian Hospital (Year 5)
  • WWII Anderson Shelter (Year 6)

Teachers also use celebration days, theme days, visiting speakers & educational trips to further bring learning to life. Examples of this include:

  • A visit from an Owl specialist
  • The Travelling Farm
  • KS1 Airport Day
  • KS1 Seaside Day
  • Roman Day
  • Preston Manor Victorian experience
  • WWII Evacuee Day
